There will be no meeting of the RWCC in February. The next meeting will be on March 13th.
~
Members of the RWCC attended a workshop on January 23rd, hosted by Silverdale-Seabeck Republican Women. Fredi Simpson, Republican National Committee member, spoke on the current presidential campaign and the caucus process in Washington state. Twenty people attended the event from Clallam. An exciting response and a good start to 2012 and the new board of the RWCC. I hope we can continue to bring fresh ideas to the group and a presence in our community. This fellowship with our neighbors shows that the RWCC is alive and well in Clallam County.

TAX FREEDOM DAY
Nationwide, Tax Freedom Day arrived on April 13 this year, the 103rd day of 2009. That means Americans worked about three and a half months of the year, from January 1 to April 13, before they have earned enough money to pay this year's tax obligations at the federal, state and local levels.
This is eight days earlier than in 2008, and a full two weeks earlier than in 2007, for two reasons: (1) the recession has reduced tax collections even faster than it has reduced income, and (2) the stimulus package includes large temporary tax cuts for 2009 and 2010. Nevertheless, Americans will pay more in taxes than they will spend on food, clothing and housing combined.
In the state of Washington we worked until April 16th, a total of 106 days before celebrating Tax Freedom Day.
Washington ranks 8th in the nation as having the heaviest tax burden.
