Democrats propose kamikaze sales tax hike

February 11, 2010
from effwa.org

Today, House Democrats introduced HB 3183, which would impose a whopping 1 percent statewide sales tax increase. Clearly, blunt instruments are encouraged this time of year in the legislature.

Ironically, the bill’s intent section claims that the tax increase will actually add jobs to the economy. Of course, it doesn’t mention that these government-led jobs are “created” at the expense of the private sector using private sector money. Read more >>>

Olympia, WA - Jan. 15th, 2010 - Approximately 300 people turned out in the rain on a weekday for The Sovereignty Winterfest, held in Olympia, WA on Thursday, Jan. 14th, starting at noon on the steps of the Legislature. Now is the time to be contacting your Senators Patty Murray - http://murray.senate.gov/email/index.cfm and Maria Cantwell - http://www.cantwell.senate.gov/contact/ - and Congressman Norm Dicks http://www.house.gov/dicks/email.shtml .

This interesting nugget from the House Ways and Means Committee GOP staff:

Today, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962, as amended) could land people in jail.  The JCT letter  makes clear that Americans who do not maintain “acceptable health insurance coverage” and who choose not to pay the bill’s new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.

When confronted with this same issue during its consideration of a similar individual mandate tax, the Senate Finance Committee worked on a bipartisan basis to include language in its bill that shielded Americans from civil and criminal penalties.  The Pelosi bill, however, contains no similar language protecting American citizens from civil and criminal tax penalties that could include a $250,000 fine and five years in jail.

According to the Congressional Budget Office the lowest cost family non-group plan under the Speaker’s bill would cost $15,000 in 2016.

So if you're a working family struggling to make ends meet, you either have to come up with $15,000 or potentially face jail time. (From Americans for Tax Reform)

Dems Target Tea Parties

Posted 2/14/2010 - from www.sovereignty.net - Democrats have created another "astroturf" group to kill the Tea Party Movement.  A new website appeared recently called "The Tea Party Is Over."  Their mission is: "To prevent the Tea Party's dangerous ideas from gaining legislative traction."  Initially, the website targets three Republican candidates for destruction.

The website is paid for by the "American Public Policy Committee," which is nothing more than a domain name registered to Craig Varoga.  Varoga, along with his partner, George Rakis, in a consulting firm called Independent Strategies, are listed on IRS documents as the people responsible for several other astroturf organizations, which include:

-The American Public Policy Committee        Donations | IRS forms
-Patriot Majority                                            Donations | IRS forms
-Citizens for Progress                                     Donations | IRS forms
-Oklahoma Freedom Fund                             Donations | IRS forms
-Mid Atlantic Leadership Fund                       Donations | IRS forms
-Public Security Now                                     Donations | IRS forms
-Pioneer Majority                                           Donations | IRS forms
-Bluegrass Freedom Fund                               Donations | IRS forms

Each of these so-called organizations list their address at 300 M Street SE, Suite 1102, Washington DC.  Neither Varoga nor Rakis occupy this office.  It is, however, occupied by Joseph Sandler who is an attorney for the Democratic National Committee.

These two people launder millions and millions of dollars from labor unions and fat-cat Democrats through these astroturf organizations, and now they have put the Tea Party Movement in their crosshairs.  Look at the donations and the individual donors to these astroturf groups.  It is essential to expose this Democratic attack on the Tea Party Movement.

Watch this video (4:35), and send it to everyone on your lists.

Initiative 1056

State Funding of Illegal Aliens

This measure would require state and local agencies to enforce federal   agencies to enforce federal immigration laws and verify immigration status to issue drivers’ licenses and public benefits.

241,153 signatures of citizen sponsors must be collected by July 2, 2010 for November ballot qualification.

State GOP Endorses Eyman Initiative 1053

The state Republican Party endorsed Tim Eyman's latest initiative, which would put in place a hurdle for tax increases. The initiative would require all tax increases be approved by a two-thirds majority in the state Legislature or by a public vote. It would restore a key provision of a voter-approved 2007 measure, Initiative 960.

Democrats, who hold a majority in the state Legislature, suspended I-960 to make way for tax increases and help close a $2.6 billion budget gap.  Eyman said it was unprecedented for the GOP to endorse one of his initiatives before the signature drive had begun.

To qualify for the November ballot, Eyman's initiative must receive 241,153 valid signatures from registered voters by July.

This cartoon from 1934 is scary; the press ridiculing FDR's recovery programs. The BIG difference between FDR and today, is FDR made people WORK for assistance. And, remember folks: "It wasn't FDR's socialism and spending that ended the depression. It was WW II.

American Minute with Bill Federer

September 4, 2009

Rome fell SEPTEMBER 4, 476AD.

In the centuries preceding, Rome was overrun with illegal immigrants: Visigoths, Franks, Anglos, Saxons, Ostrogoths, Burgundians, Lombards and Vandals.

They first assimilated, many working as servants, but then came so fast they did not learn the Latin language.

Militarily superior Roman Legions marched rapidly on advanced roads but were strained fighting conflicts worldwide.

Rome had a trade deficit, having outsourced its grain production to North Africa, and when the Vandals captured that area, Rome did not have the resources to retaliate.

Attila the Hun committed terrorist attacks.

Rome was on welfare with citizens given free bread.

One Roman commented:

"Those who live at the expense of the public funds are more numerous than those who provide them."

Tax collectors were "more terrible than the enemy."

Rome was in debt with huge government bureaucracies.

A history of court favoritism, infidelity, exposure of unwanted infants, perverted bathhouses, sexual immorality, as seen in Pompei's ruins, and violent entertainment by gladiators in the Coliseum, led 5th-Century historian Salvian to write:

"O Roman people be ashamed...Let nobody think otherwise, the vices of our bad lives have alone conquered us."

Lower Property Taxes Init. 1033

Initiative 1033 would limit the growth of state, county and city general fund revenue to the annual rate of inflation.  Voters could approve revenue exemptions, but otherwise any money exceeding the exemption would go toward reduced property tax collections the following year.

Citizen activist Tim Eyman is organizing the Initiative 1033 which would limit the growth of state, county and city general fund revenue to the annual rate of inflation. Voters could approve revenue exemptions, but otherwise any money exceeding the exemption would go toward reduced property tax collections the following year. The initiative doesn’t reduce the size of government but it ensures that government grows at an affordable, sustainable, voter-controlled rate, and dedicates excess revenue toward lowering the state’s property tax burden.

Taxpayers would get a break, and the government would have to reprioritize its goals to spend what it has.

“They have to find ways to spend money more effectively,” said Eyman. “We’re not interested in business as usual but rather with less money.”

Sponsors have until early July to gather approximately 300,000 valid signatures to place the measure on the November 2009 ballot.
